Miletus Ancient City-Temple of Apollo Sacred Way

The Sacred Way that starts from Miletus Ancient City goes on for 17 km. until it reaches the Temple of Apollo. Before the road was built, it’s known that the people of Miletus had reached the temple by way of sea and then walk from the bay of Panormos Harbor because there was no land roads. The road that reached from Panormos Harbor to the temple was surrounded by sculptures of sphinxes, lions and meditating priests and it was named “Sacred Way”. The Sacred Way that starts from Miletus Ancient City is 3,5 km southeast of Panormos which is a harbor that belongs to Didyma. It ends at the entrance of the Temple of Apollo.
