It’s thought that Kanuni Sultan Süleyman, in 14 January 1523, passed through Temirtaş Bridge over the Meander and reached “Cağış”, known as Dumlupınar Neighborhood today, and made camp in the region where also Eski-Yeni Mosque, which was built in 1573, can be found. Later on, by way of Kestel Village he reached Alaşehir in 15 January 1523.

Famous Arab traveler İbn-i Batuta used Kestel Village road in his travels as well. Kestel, due to its location, has witnessed many historical events and been a popular passageway.
