The museum, located in Aphrodisias Ancient City 12 km. away from Karacasu District, has been providing service since 1979 as one of the richest local museums of Turkey. Catholic Period artifacts that had been excavated from the Acropolis Hill and Pekmeztepe Mounds located inside the archeological site are exhibited in this museum. In addition, prehistoric artifacts that cover the Bronze Age, Lydian ceramics excavated from these mounds and the surroundings of the Temple of Aphrodite, Archaic, Classic, Hellenistic Period artifacts and Roman, Byzantine and Early Islam era artifacts excavated from archeological sites are being exhibited in this museum. Museum, in a general sense, is a sculpture museum, and it hosts rare examples of Aphrodisias sculpture school which was active in this ancient city between the 1st century BC and the 5th century BC.
