Aphrodisias Ancient City
Aphrodisias, which is located 12km. southeast of Karacasu District and in proximity of Geyre village, was established in the 13th century BC. Named after Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, the city of Aphrodisias has been an ancient city famous for its Aphrodite faith especially in ancient Rome and it's still one of the most important archeological sites in Turkey with its well-preserved ruins. The city was a hub of sculpture, literature and arts.
The Temple of Aphrodite and the most well-preserved stadium in the world are some of the important artifacts of the city.
In 2017, ancient city of Aphrodisias was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List.
