Araplı (Gözpınar) Martyr’s Cemetery
Gözpınar Village, 15 km. away from Efeler District’s centre, was one of the villages which suffered the Greek savagery. Previously known as Araplı, the village’s name was later changed into Gözpınar (lit. Eye spring) because of all the tears that had been shed. The women of the village burried the men, who were tortured to death, and erected headstones on their graves. The bullet marks of the Greek soldiers can still be seen today on the tree in the village square.
