Durmuş Ali Efe, the person in charge of the İncirliova-Tire line during the national struggle, retreated to Arpadere after the Greeks had called in reinforcements due to heavy losses. Taking advantage of this, the Greek forces arrived in the village and locked up 55 people, consisting of the old, the sick, the women and the kids, in a house and burned them.
